"SELF-PORTRAIT," a Multimedia Exhibition by Darko Taleski"
"Self-Portrait" is a multimedia interactive artwork by Darko Taleski, where the focus is placed on the individual creation of personal identity and self-awareness as part of a collective whole. This multimedia piece consists of projections onto a so-called "smart" or "magic" mirror, where questions and various animations are displayed to encourage visitors to reflect on themselves as they stand before this digital and interactive work. The internal introspection of each individual becomes an intimate process of creating a self-image—a self-portrait that is simultaneously alive, dynamic, and ever-changing.
As they seek answers to the questions appearing on the "smart" mirror and respond to the animations, visitors consciously engage with these external stimuli, beginning to generate their own inner personal reflections. These abstract constructs evolve into living, fluid thought processes and imaginations that become integral parts of the visitor's identity. Through the free creative imagination evoked by interaction with the work, the self-portrait is intuitively formed as a response to each new question. In this process, visitors’ thoughts, emotions, and experiences become tools for creation, while their individual consciousness transforms into an abstract canvas. According to Taleski, such interaction enables the visitor to create an "abstract reflection of the self-portrait."
The intertwining of internal thought processes, visual imagery, and emotional experiences within a given spatial and temporal framework allows individuals, while standing before this multimedia work, to actively participate in shaping the final outcome and spontaneously create an abstract self-portrait. Through this extraordinary encounter between the individual and the interactive digital work, the delicately crafted self-portrait continues to live on as an integral part of the individual.
